The goddess Bastet is associated with fertility and the protection of the home. Represented by a woman with the head of a cat or by a feline, her cult developed in the first millennium BC. Numerous small figurines of the goddess, most often in bronze, were then placed in the temples by the faithful wishing to attract her favors.
